Happy Halloween Arrgg!

From our Brood of Pirates to yours!

Dinner in a Pumpkin again this year. This time homemade mac&cheese in little individual pumpkins. Nummy.

And this one just speaks for itself :).

Nummy pumpkin cake made by Angela!

And trick-or-treating. Piper was so into it this year...running up to the doors to say "trick or cheese..."

And lastly an example of how crazy our neighborhood gets into this "holiday??"

More Pumpkins!

We had Emery's field trip today and the siblings got to come. Just love the striped sweaters!.
Sorry Mel, I realized I didn't get any pics of Mylah.

My Pumpkins...Emery is cheering for pumpkins in this shot.

A quick game of duck-duck-goose.

And apparently hunting for pumpkins can ware a girl out.

A Puppy Post.

I havent done a post on the pup in a while...here he is in all his glory. I think he's in the awkward adolecence stage in life. Digging like crazy. We just pulled out the shock colar to start some serious training. (sad i know...but I would like to continue having a reletively nice yard!)
I have had two scares where I have gone out to the back yard only to find fluff from the insides of a stuffed animal all over. I panic thinking it is Ty's puppy or Emery's bears...but nope! They are completely random stuffed animals that I know did not come from our house. So then I started to panic thinking were one of the neighborhood kids loveys. Nope! Phew. I think they are the neighbor dogs old toys that Mav finds in the back feild...since the neighbors throw all their crap back there. But for the most part he is a good boy.

  • Learning to go to his bed when told
  • To not jump all over people (okay well not so good at this yet.)
  • Protects Mama from the UPS guy every day.
  • Love's going to pick up Emery at school every day.
  • Barks at the drive up teller to get his bone.
  • Try's to jump into the starbucks window when we drive through.
  • Somehow gets up on our tall table to eat scraps...(need the colar to cure him of this!)
  • Has both puked up and pooped out a pair of socks, in turn making me puke!
  • Love's playing rough with Mike...knows not to with mom!
  • Lick's too darn much!

Girlfriend~Dont grow too fast!

A picture Em begged me to take of her with my Point and Shoot because she thought it was cool that she could stretch her legs all the way across the opening of the door. After reviewing the picture on the lcd she decided she needed a re-shoot with a serious face. I think she's been watching me proof my senior shoots. It took some practice and lots of giggles to get her to stop smiling ;). The same usually goes for seniors as well.

I wanted to share a little conversation I had with her last week. On Thursday night I worked at the school carnival. At one point in the evening a cute little boy and his twin brother came up to me and asked, "You is Emery's Mom huh?" I replied, "I is." (just kidding dad.)
The boys began to giggle and one of them pointed to his brother and said, "she his girlfriend".
"Oh, is that true?" I asked calmly...more giggles. I asked him his name and he said Jesus...his brother's name was Martine. I then told him really nicely that Emery is not allowed to have boyfriends but he could be her friend. More giggles...
So later on that evening I tucked Emery in bed and climbed up for a little talk. I told her I met Jesus and she smiled and said, "He is my friend." I said, "Yes and he was very nice, but his brother said that he is your boyfriend." She smiled but looked a little confused and said, "no he is my friend." I took this time as a good opportunity to start to share with her some of the ground rules in our house. I told her how it was good to have boys as friends, but it is best to just keep them as friends...even if you were just playing. And how she can start thinking about having a "boyfriend" when she was 16. She got all giddy and started counting the years till she turns 16. OH DEAR!
Anyway, I also started planting in her little head how God is finding a special person for her and how important it is when she is older to only have boyfriends that love Jesus. (Jesus of Nazareth that is, not the Jesus from Sunset Elementary ;). I am sure she doesn't really comprehend that completely, but it's a good time to start talking with her.
So the next day when I picked her up from school she asked, "Mama, do Spanish people..." then she paused so I had to jump in and correct her..."You mean Spanish speaking people?" "oh yes" she said. (just a pet peeve of mine.) She then continued, "Do Spanish speaking people worship God?" I said, yes some do and told her all about Pastor Genaro and the Spanish speaking congregation at church. I asked her if she had asked anyone at school if they worshiped God. Thinking maybe she had asked little Jesus. But she said no. Not sure if that question was prompted by our conversation the night before, but glad she is thinking about such things.

Pumpkin love...

Yesterday was Ty's school trip to the Pumpkin Patch...it was a quick one since it was pouring down rain. Seeing that I did not want my orange wool coat to stink like a farm animal I brought out my golf umbrella....and quickly was nick-named Mary Poppins. Which I took as a compliment thank you very much Nicole and Darsha!!

Ty loved his perfect little pumpkin so much he fell asleep with it on the couch. First time in FOREVER i didn't have to fight him to take a nap. I didn't even ask him to go take a nap...he did it all on his own. We might have to get a new pumpkin every day!

Celebrate with Expression!

I have to laugh when i see all the different expressions of myself while opening up gifts. Reminds me of Lindsay's post before of all her expressions...so here you go...

This would be me opening up 2 prints I got that I have been wanting for years. Every time I go to Red Robin I see these prints and just have to stop and stare into the eyes of the subjects. (I love it when Art does this to you.) So Mike bought me a couple!! They are "Toby" & "Squirt" by Ron Burns.

Here's Trey talking to "Toby" (who looks alot like Mav did when he was tiny.)

Here I am reading very carefully the card Mike got me. Took me a few seconds to realize the the paper inside was several designs for a Tattoo...which was his gift to me...(now I have to get the guts up to go get inked)

Not sure what this expression is all about. Lovely.

A smile for the coffee card. Yeah coffee!!

Checking out my new jacket.

Reading Piper's card about Peanut Butter and Jelly. It made me cry.

My love to Ty for getting me a pumpkin! So cute.

Expressions of Love to Em for the roses she picked out for me.

And one of me and all the kids helping me blow out the candles.

I love B-days. Thanks everyone for the well wishes, emails, phone calls, cards and gifts!!

Sunday Morning Make-over

I love having girls!! This is what we did as soon as we walked in the door from church. Don't I look lovely? The girls did my make-up and Ty did the hair. I can remember playing make-up all the time when I was Emery's age. I still even know how my sisters did my eyes. Four pastel colors in four squares on my eyelid. Oh the 80's.
And just a side note: Emery is not allowed to wear this outfit without an undershirt outside the house or when she has friends over...and here mama is sharing it with the blog world. Bad mommy. Not sure where she picked up this pose.
